We began in the residential sector, where we learned the critical steps involved in transforming raw property into a finished product. We understood the importance of having a good team of subcontractors, the permit process, scheduling, and asset deployment. We realized that all aspects are like pieces of a puzzle that need to be assembled correctly to achieve a successful project and satisfy our customers.

We then spent several years working in California on large developments, with projects involving up to 2,000 homes per development. This provided us with invaluable experience in scheduling, managing subcontractors, and job performance on a larger scale. Overseeing up to 2,000 homes from the underground utility phase to turnkey ownership was a highly valuable education. Seeing the full scope of such large projects successfully executed enhanced our ability to ensure that all areas of smaller projects can be completed efficiently, safely, on time, and within budget.

Upon returning to Washington and joining the Iron Workers Union, we gained experience in commercial work, including reinforcing steel, structural steel, estimating, and detailing for both delivery and placement or erection. We learned about state and government forms required for prevailing wage projects and the importance of job site efficiency, dealing with engineering and architectural firms, and adhering to stringent schedules.

With our extensive experience over the years, transitioning to a full general contractor was a natural progression. DNR Services Construction Inc. continues to participate in larger projects as a subcontractor, but for residential and small commercial projects, we operate as a full-line general contractor. We handle everything from design-build, pre-job information and planning, project management, on-site work, and project delivery.
